Special viewing of the Takayama Spring Festival

The Takayama Festival, which is thought to have originated somewhere between the late 16th century and 17th century is a traditional event that has been treasured by the people of Takayama. Sanno Festival, which announces the arrival of spring in Takayama, is an annual festival of the Hie Shrine (Sanno-sama), the patron saint of the southern half of old Takayama castle town. Each year, on April 14th and 15th, 12 stands that represent the treasures of the Sanno Festival arrive at Kamicho on the south side of Yasukawa Street, which becomes the main stage for the festival. Three of these are karakuri offerings. Although many people from all over Japan come together at the Takayama Festival, our hotel provides an opportunity to take your time and enjoy the event from special viewing seats in an open café style.
